Application: MSc UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance
The application and selection of the candidates has two dimensions:
one (scientific)
in which the Steering Committee of the program checks the required
scientific prerequisites for the program
and a second one (administrative) in which the Admission Office
of the University of Zurich is asking for authorised transcripts
of the documents and checks the formalities (for example existence of a Bachelor degree from a recognized University, etc.) requested to join the program.
How to apply for the program starting September 2013
Applications for the program starting September 2013 can be submitted starting October 1st 2012.
Step 1. Pay the application fee of CHF 200:
Details (the applicants have to make sure that they cover the transfer fees that
might occur and that the University of Zurich will receive the entire amount of CHF 200):

Step 2. Make sure two individuals are ready to support your application by sending a letter of recommendation
Two letters of recommendation by Email are requested to support your application.
Please advise two individuals who will provide letters of recommendation to
send their recommendations directly to msfinance[at]bf.uzh.ch soon after you send your
application but anyway before the deadline.
Step 3. Announce your application

Please note that only .pdf-documents are accepted.
To convert a paper document into an electronic file you can use a scanner or a fax machine and a free e-fax account.
- A proof that you have paid the application fee (non-refundable).
This should be a .pdf file named "SurnameGivenname_ApplFee.pdf".

A letter of motivation.
This should be a .pdf file named "SurnameGivenname_LetterMotiv.pdf".

A complete curriculum vitae (including the Email address, postal address and a telephone number where you can be reached).
This should be a .pdf file named "SurnameGivenname_CV.pdf".

Copies of your academic degree(s).
This should be a .pdf file named
- "SurnameGivenname_Bachelor.pdf" (if you will submit a copy of your Bachelor degree)
- or "SurnameGivenname_Master.pdf" (if you will submit a copy of your Master degree)
- or "SurnameGivenname_PhD.pdf" (if you will submit a copy of your PhD degree).
If you expect to receive your Bachelor degree only after the deadline but before September 30th 2013, please
state this explicitly in your Email.
- Copies of your official grades on Bachelor (and on Master level if applicable).
This should be a .pdf file named
- "SurnameGivenname_GradesBachelor.pdf" (if you will submit a copy of your grades in the Bachelor study)
- or "SurnameGivenname_GradesMaster.pdf" (if you will submit a copy of your grades in the Master study).
If you expect to receive your Bachelor degree only after the deadline but before September 30th 2013, a copy
of the up-to-now grades: this should be a .pdf file named "SurnameGivenname_GradesBachelor_temp.pdf".
- A proof of your knowledge of the English language at level C1 according to the "Common European Framework of Reference".
This should be a .pdf file named "SurnameGivenname_English.pdf".

Step 5. Only for candidates accepted by the Steering Committee:
The Admission Office of the University of Zurich will contact you asking for authorised copies of the documents submitted at Step 4.
Deadline
For the program starting September 2013, the deadline is:
January 31, 2013
(date of sending the Email with all application documentation and date when all recommendation letters should be received). Earlier applications are mostly encouraged.

Answers to frequently asked questions concerning the application
- There are no application forms for the program "MSc UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance".
- The whole program is in English (consequently, applicants don't need to know German to participate in the program).
- The application has to be in English.
- We do not accept applications submitted in paper form.
- Note that applicants need to hold a degree from a recognized university
(or receive the degree shortly).
- The certificates and the letters of references can be in English,
German or French. If the certificates are in another language, please
include an official translation and explain the grading system.
- The letters of references need to be sent directly to the Administration of the program via Email. The applicant is responsable
for the in-time arrival of the letters of references.
- The proof of the knowledge of the English knowledge can be send also via regular mail directly to the

by the Institution which is issuing the certificate (TOEFL, etc).
- You can submit up to three additional documents to support your application; for example you can submit the result of the GRE Subject Test Mathematics; click
here for details; or the GMAT, or letters from previous employers, etc.
- We do not offer any scholarships which cover your living expenses
in Zurich.
However, depending where you come from, there are several
organisations which offer scholarships, for example the
Swiss
Government, the Institute
of International Education, the Fulbright
Program, the German DAAD
and so on. Please ask your foreign student adviser and search the Internet.
