Selection: MSc UZH ETH in Quantitative Finance

Selection, admission and enrollment (program starting September 2012)

  • February / March 2012: The Steering Committee informs via Email each applicant about the outcome of her/his application. There are three possible outcomes:

    1. Based on an exceptional dossier the candidate is accepted to join the program without any further examinations and interviews. Accepted applicants will receive details from the Admission Office of the University of Zurich regarding the official enrollment and about the existing deadlines to secure their place of study. Certified copies of the documents (diploma, grades, certificate of knowledge of the English language) need to be submitted.
    2. The applicant is not accepted. The application documentation will be returned within 8 weeks.
    3. The candidate is asked to prove his prerequisite knowledge in Economics and Mathematics in an exam or in an interview according to the Prerequisites; click here to see the background material that needs to be prepared for the entrance examination/interview(s).
      Only attending and passing the examination/interview(s) will lead to a definitive acceptance. The candidates are informed via Email about the dates when the exam/interview(s) will take place in Zurich.

  • March 2012: entrance examinations/interviews for candidates from Switzerland, for candidates living in Switzerland, and from countries where from no turist visa for Switzerland is asked. The exam/interview in "Probability and Statistics " is oral and 30 minutes long. The same applies for the exam/interview in "Corporate Finance and Investments ": oral and 30 minutes long. If one candidate has to pass two exams, then these two exams will take place at the same day. The exam(s)/interview(s) will take place in Zurich.
    All candidates who attended the exam/interview(s) are informed via Email about the outcome.   • April 2012: entrance examinations/interviews for candidates from countries that need an entry visa for Switzerland. The exam in "Probability and Statistics " is oral, and 30 minutes long. The same applies for the exam in "Corporate Finance and Investments ": oral and 30 minutes long. If one candidate has to pass two exams/interview then these two exams/interviews will take place in the same day. The examinations will take place in Zurich.
